Allegedly, a TADA driver racially abused a passenger of Eurasian descent by calling her "Indian" and "the very worst."

Unfortunately, not all taxi and private car rides end happily.

One mum and her kid had bad luck when she claimed a TADA driver had been racist towards her.

She uploaded a video of the cab driver, who can be heard making racist comments about Indians.

According to TADA's statement, the organisation is looking into the matter.

According to reports, road construction made a TADA driver angry

Ms. Jan Hoeden announced her TADA ride reservation on Facebook on Saturday (23 Sep).

She was taking her nine-year-old daughter with her to Pasir Ris Street 12.

Adding that the driver became irritated on the way there because of the MRT work and began accusing her of giving him the wrong route, she explained that the roadblocks had been caused by the MRT construction.

The TADA driver says his daughter is too short for the seat

Ms. Hoeden posted a video of her exchange with the driver on Facebook, which she has since deleted. The clip lasted for around two and a half minutes.

A person on TikTok who claimed to be her niece also shared a portion of it.

At one point in the film, the driver can be heard informing Ms. Hoeden that he has already given her a "chance" because he knows her "baby" is less than 1.35m.

Child safety seats or booster seats are required by law in Singapore for all passengers under 1.35m tall, according to the Land Transport Authority (LTA). Private hire vehicles are not permitted by this regulation, but taxis are.

In spite of this, Ms. Hoeden informed the driver that her daughter is nine years old and 1.37m tall.

The driver was unconvinced and said that they were "very illegal."

After cooling off for a while, the TADA driver brought up the allegedly wrong route again.

Ms. Hoeden's driver once cautioned her not to be "hao lian" (boastful), to which she responded, "Wo bu shi hao lian" (I'm not being boastful).

The driver then lets out an extremely loud cry, as if to say,

You are India, I’m Chinese… You are the very worst…

Ms. Hoeden quietly set him straight, telling him that she is a Singaporean Eurasian and not an Indian.

In addition, she threatened to out him as a racist on Facebook.

But the driver was certain,

I know you’re India, I’m CHINESE. Don’t try to be funny with me!

The man kept shouting loudly while Ms. Hoeden repeatedly accused him of being racist.

TADA is looking into a report of passenger abuse by a driver

In light of this occurrence, TADA has issued a statement emphasising that they "do not tolerate racism, discrimination, or abuse of any kind."

The ride-hailing service commented on a post by Wake Up Singapore on Instagram to say they were looking into the matter and to appreciate the internet users who had alerted them to it.

Channel NewsAsia (CNA) was also informed by the firm that an internal investigation had been launched to clarify the situation.

They promised to take "all necessary actions" in response to the report's findings.
